About us

Graces Garden is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that exists for the planned community of adults who are living with Autism and similar neuro-diverse conditions.

We take a well thought out approach to providing the resources and framework, to help this population of individuals be the best version of themselves.

We begin with fostering community integration early on through a variety of drop-in programs that offer social interaction, fun and skill development. This all starts well before the individual is actually placed in housing. By doing this, we believe that the programs serve as a much needed respite to families who have dependent children at home, and also creates a bridge for transitioning into independent living. We believe that a gentle transition into independence is much kinder to both participant and parent (or caregiver), and this is the way that we achieve it.

Throughout our programs, the community focus will be on helping our participants and residents achieve self-actualization. This will be different for each individual, just as it is for any other population of our society. We all learn at different paces and have both gifts and challenges that need to be honored and respected.

Residents of Graces Garden will live in a Co-housing Community, with a Common House at the center of their neighborhood. If you are not familiar with Co-housing, its roots are from Denmark, but this type of community has flourished in many other places including the U. S.

There is good reason for Co-Housing’s success. The Common House is a central gathering space, eating space and commercial kitchen where residents work and enjoy meals together. No one is alone unless they choose to be. For this reason, Co-housing has had many success stories when it comes to housing for the elderly, single parents and similar populations, where a built-in support network is advantageous.
